This video was made for my nephew, "Dancing Sky" and as a benefit for Girdwood Charter School. It shows how the Northern Lights come to be as seen from the sun, space and Earth. Live footage and 3-D modeling.

Very spectacular, but ive got some questions. Does the aurora come only in a circular form arnd the poles? And since the energy is drawn mostly to the poles, does that mean energy from the sun's explosion contains charges?

finally an explanation that I can understand. Thanks for posting. I loved it.

The first half of the film is the sun's solar explosions which are like massive nuclear detonations. The energy and radiation from these explosions travel through space and when they hit the Earth, our electromagnetic force-field absorbs the impact. Then the force-field recoils after the impact has passed. The left-over energy is drawn in at the poles. The area where they are most concentrated lights-up and appears as Northern Lights. Note: without the force-field, the Earth may be vaporized.

... I know what the northern lights are, but when I say grean crap, (Ahem I mean *stuff*, sorry 'bout that) I mean, that blue *stuff* around the earth. Then it looks like a circle of like, a sound wave or something like that, then it zooms into the earth. Perhapes you could explain a little more about the first, oh, 1 and a half, 2 min. of the film? -Jen (P.S. Sorry about that first comment, I must have been tired or something ;) )

Hi Jennifer... no there is no lightning or comet or lava. And the green crap is what some people call the Northern Lights. Ever hear of them? And there is nothing random about this video. It was made for my nephew who is about the same age as you. Perhaps you're having a bad day.
