Belle, because they have perverted sexuality into whoredom; same reason for female circumcision - women are not SUPPOSED to like sex or think about men that way. This is is a sick culture where being a woman makes you less worthy than an animal. Wake up Islam, it is 2008.

Hi Poetry - that is extremely well written and I totally agree. Bad enough to have to watch and pretend to approve of your husband having sex with another woman, but that is like pouring acid in an open wound. I think it is this kind of thing that makes some people grow prejudiced against Muslims, throw in genital circumcism, infanticide and honor crimes - what would ANYone think of ANY religion that supported these things?I am very sorry for your losses, Poetry; my heart goes out to you.

i saw no need for polygamy from watching that video excerpt.as a woman who has faced miscarriage more than once, i cannot think of something more torturous than another woman being brought into my marriage to fulfill my incapacity to reproduct. that is the kind of thing that would break a woman. particularly a woman grieving for her neverborn child.

polygamy is terribly outdated and should only be entered into when the social context is taken into account. I have heard of a person who wanted to marry his three other partners legally in australia! As a muslim myself, it was simply embarrassing to hear him defend his decision with the quran. In the time of the prophet widows were treated terribly and so it was in their best interests to remarry. Polygamy was needed because so many men would die in battles.Not relevant today

I think polygamy is a good idea because a woman shouldn't have to put up with a man every day. If the man has other wives, each wife only has to tolerate him one or two days a week. Also, men are too lazy to do their own laundry and housework. Men would be too stinky and disgusting if they didn't have wives to make them presentable. But a woman shouldn't have to do that for a man every day.

polygamy increases the rate of incest by making children with multiple wives that end up all being related to each other. use your head will you? and doesnt osama have like 4 wives? extrapolate. thats a lot of men keeping a lot of pretty women 2 themselves. if one of those wives cheated she and her lover would surely be put to death?btw some mormon communities practice polygamy too, and some have had Fumarase Deficiency, a birth defect, as a long term result of polygamy. dangerously stupid!
