Well, Beethoven wouldn't be able to hear it anyway...haha. I appreciate rap and orchestral music...actually, I don't because 1/2 the time I don't know what they're saying...haha. I tried listening to it..and I don't understand anything.

It is very rare to know people who appreciate rap and orchestral music. I dislike rap, I would consider it music, but it to me it is vulgar. It takes away from the properness of music (music as it was interpreted by the creators of it, Bach, Mozart and Beethoven). Neither of these musical geniuses would consider rap being music, in fact, they probably couldn't even comprehend it.

Well, I was kinda born with a musical brain. The people who write songs nowadays have more of a "poetic" mindset and choose to express it through song. I prefer music that focuses on the "music" aspect (like orchestral or progressive rock), and not mainly on the lyrics and "message". It's just what I prefer.

to Clorow: I understand what you mean - there is a musical depth to classical and orchestral music that most contemporary music can't touch. However, I think you are perhaps considering rap in the wrong way. The depth in rap is in the storytelling and rhythmical flow of the rapper. The focus is on these things. If you think about it, your argument would apply to the likes of Bob Dylan too. His songs were usually no more complicated than 3 or 4 chords.
