I am so amazed by Judi Dench. Honestly, she's not the strongest singer in the Universe, but she acts the hell out of this song. And the rawness of her voice only makes the emotional experience of it more powerful, potent, and real. I have never been so moved witnessing a performance of this Sondheim standard as I was tonight. Thank you, Ms. Dench. I cannot thank you enough.

God, I love this performance. I'm sure I've commented at least two times before but I just keep coming back because it's simply awe-inspiring. The emotion she just pours into it really does make me want to cry, which rarely happens with me and songs. I love it. Absolutely amazing.

Dame Judi says that she can "put over a song" as she had to do years ago when she played Sally Bowles in Cabaret. And, she can put over a song. I had never heard of Liz Taylor version and after listening, I know why. Of all the versions, I think Judi's is the best because of the emotion that I feel pouring out of her with every word. She is The Dame.

Her list of credits is incredibly extensive, without including her theatrical work or leading character work in nearly the entirety Shakespeare's canon. |
