Actually LMF...they dont run them rich or lean. A proper pilot will have it tuned perfectly. Heli pilots use high oil content in the fuel. The smoke is just that oil burning off in the exhaust. The fuel is Nitromethane mixed with either castor or synthetic oil for lubrication. During 3D flying, the throttle is usually transferred to a switch called idleup, its usually between 80-100% throttle. Once the clutch burned up, the motor had no load, and with 80-100% throttle,it was using lots of fuel

I'm with newtonfine. People in glass houses should never throw stones- for your information, the smoke you see isn't because the engine is overheating but because model heli pilots like to run the engine slightly rich (i.e. with a little extra fuel in the fuel/air ratio) so as to avoid lubrication problems (since lubricating oil is mixed with the fuel)
