That's actually not true. There was a reconciliation between the subjects and the actor after the experiment, showing the subject that truly no harm was done to the actor. A little while after, he sent questionnaires to the subjects, and about 80% percent were glad they were a part of the experiment and would do it again. Also, due to panic in the psychological community, Milgram hired a medical examiner to evaluate the subjects. None had lasting harm from the experiment.

If I remember correctly from freshman Psych class, I think a lot of the people from the original Milgrim experiment did in fact get PTSD, and it was experiments like the Milgrim one and the Stanford Prison experiment that led to changes in how psychological experiments were handled since they did cause lasting adverse effects on the participants.

We in the targeted individual community experience this...we are harmed by individuals in the community because someone in "authority" has deemed it necessary to harm us. Our perpetrators are told all sorts of slanderous things about us (targets) and this is how the perpetrators are convinced that what they are doing is right and is for the greater good.

I have major respect for derren brown but how the hell was he allowed to get away with this experiment and why would he want to? It is the epitome of unethical and it is used as an example of how unethical psychological studies used to be man it's not cool even with the de-briefing that could leave some one with MAJOR ptsd.xoxo
