there are no stock applications that require EDGE. They all work over WiFi.

i know this is probably annoying. but does your maps and weather things work? or do they need the data? thanks just tryin to decide between it and the curve

Set the APN, username, and password to nothing and you won't have any EDGE at all, thus no EDGE charges. Pretty easy, though I did manage to get 200+MB out of Rogers on a contract, but I've since toned it down to a more reasonable level, reflecting what I use.

hey i was just wondering since im thinkin of gettin a unlocked iphone and using rogers what works since rogers doesnt offer large data. Can all you do is call and sms without getting huge data charges?

I don't know how I can be any clearer. For the love of God, yes, you can use your iPhone as an iPod Touch. You need a SIM card no matter what, but the SIM card doesn't have to be active or valid. My sister is using the AT&T card (never activated) that came with her iPhone. |
