If you really want to learn this technique "from" Antoine I recommend learning his song "No Name for Love" in which he teaches you how to play the bridge part. After learning how to play this bridge part I will bet your ears can pick up what he is doing.

I think it's down down, slap up down... like when u slap u shove the thumbpick under the string then go up, down.

just do it however u feel most comfortable, it's very fast. i perfer to go completely without a thumb pick and down, up, slap, down, up, down

Has anyone really gotten comfortable with the whole bass line technique of this song? It seems to be two downstrokes with the thumpick followed by the slap then an alternate down-up double stroke, but it's really tricky to phrase it the way he does. Anyone have some good solid advice on that?

You're spot on. Once you actually give it a go it's nowhere near as daunting as it first looks. Still, capturing all the subtle nuances and getting the phrasing right is very difficult. I love playing this song, it's so fun!! ^_^ |
