Where has the time gone? Bobby Hatfield, although you're gone, you will never be forgotten so long as you keep allowing us to hear your marvelous voice. I am trying to type with tears flowing down. I am just sitting here reminiscing about the years gone by. They were the best days of my life. I also echo the sentiments of those who said that was REAL MUSIC.

it's not because he is being selfish, but because he cannot help it. He is feeling the impact of his specific love being lost; he feels helpless, in despair - of course he does not stick a gun to her head asking for love. In my mind, this song is about someone who is no longer with the person he/she loves and brings out a cry of beautiful melodies with lyrics that are so subtle and delicate, to speak his mind and let the world know of his pain.Hope that does it. By no means is it a selfish song

Haven't heard that one b4. I am more than happy to share a "refreshing" different angle to this song and i will start by saying that if love was a simple thing in life, then people would give and take it (perhaps even put a pricetag on it and sell it at supermarkets) like it were Chocolate bars. Without having to get into more detail in something i hope you are familiar with, you must agree with me when i say that this is not the case with love. So if a man sings "i need your love"

Well I am open for your interpretation/analysis. It might open my eyes for the lyrics of this song. I might learn something.Actually I didn't devote much time on it. I just heard over and over again "I need.." and "give your love to me". And then I immediately thought, "Wow what a selfish dude! What about her feelings?".Please prove me wrong! It would be refreshing to see a different angle. But you're not gonna do that are you?!Funny that people always play the man instead of the ball ;)

Honestly? An extremely poor interpretation/analysis of this universally significant love song that has stood the test of time. It sounded almost as if you have devoted one too many hours hoping to find the song's non-existent negative points and meanings.
