Before it was WIN TV it was known as RTQ in Rockhampton but for a brief moment during 1990... it was known as STAR Television. This is Part 2 of the "Promotional Reel" that was circulated to potential advertisers in the lead-up to Aggregation in Queensland in late 1990.Unfortunately I cannot shed any light on who the Hostess is who appears in the Video, other than assuming she may have been at RTQ in 1990. Hopefully a viewer can come forward and post some information on who she is, if recognized. At the time "Star" was to be a TEN affiliate and it took on the slogan of being "The Entertainment Network" i.e. T-E-N and of course all the programmes highlighted were from TEN.The clips from "The Simpsons", the FIRST ever seen in Australia and interestingly even though these weren't broadcast they were watermarked with a 20th Century Fox copyright notice.Of course all this changed with Network affiliation of RTQ changing at the last minute before STAR emerged as WIN TV on January 1, 1991 as a NINE Affiliate and QTV became the Queensland Regional TEN Affiliate. While I know all this was the case in Rockhampton, I don't have any information on whether or not RTQ's sister station DDQ 0 (Vision TV) in Toowoomba also changed its name to STAR briefly in 1990 or whether it simply went from Vision TV to WIN in 1991.The FULL machinations and timings of the ownership changes with both RTQ and DDQ are still a little unclear to me.WIN Corporate reports that it purchased RTQ Rockhampton in 1988 (Pre-Aggregation) but RTQ (and then STAR) continued to prepare for TEN affiliation as NQTV/QTV was already down the track in securing agreement to be the 9 affiliate come 1991.What may have happened then is that DDQ (An Independant Broadcaster) which had sold off it's holdings in Channel 10 in Brisbane in 1989 was an open target. It is possible then that in the last months of 1990, Bruce Gordon secured ownership and control of DDQ thus creating a 2 station Network in preparation for aggregation. With WIN being associated as a Nine affiliate in Southern New South Wales and Gordon's "Star" Television destined to be a TEN affiliate in Queensland, it is possible he then took advantage of the fact that NQTV/QTV had NOT signed on the dotted line for 9 affiliation and he swooped in with an offer to PBL.I do know that there was tension within QTV Management in regard to the high amount Nine were asking for affiliation and programme supply.Bruce may well have just agreed to pay them what they wanted.Media Resource - Ketupa.net details a slightly different timeline based on its research of Bruce Gordon's takeovers.1988: DDQ-10 Toowoomba and RTQ-7 Rockhampton form Vision TV. (presumably Company name only as Rockhampton was NEVER known as "Vision TV" on air).1990 Vision TV becomes Star Television. (But did DDQ Toowoomba ever change to "Star" on air ?) 1990 Gordon buys Star Television.(Also secures supply of Nine product and changes the company and on air name to WIN.. just in time for Aggregation on January 1, 1991. ?)LINK: http://www.ketupa.net/win2.htm... NOTE: I worked at NQTV/QTV through 1989 and 1990 and like other staff observed a number of years of preparation there for 9 affiliation. In January 1990.. the NQTV logo changed to QTV with 9 dots but in October was changed again to a new logo with NO Network affiliation evident. However staff were still told it would be a Nine station. It has to be said though that QTV Managment had made no secret, at least internally, that 9 were demanding a HIGH price for programme supply troughout 1990.However, it wasn't until the last weeks of 1990.. around Christmas Day that staff became aware of a quantum shift at QTV and that a deal with 9 had NOT been signed. The first media reports (Newspapers I think at first) then appeared detailing the news that WIN with those 9 dots would be coming to Queensland and NOT "Star".PLEASE: Can anyone with any accurate deeper knowledge of this event enlighten us all.

For a showreel, is the idea simply to give a sample or to be broadcast quality ie. 'putting on your best suit'? Because I notice the program v/o's being from the cap city network weren't uniform and also that there were some brief gaps between promos. For more details on ownership, may be worthwhile contacting YT account 'yellokombi', who if you search for 'star television toowoomba' who was the designer.

Also, have tried to trace the chronology of ownership of Northern Star Holdings, but timing proves inconclusive.Peter Byrne still at Dean St to this very day and with similar format of a highly detailed weather report, the likes of which are not seen elsewhere.Interesting to speculate on their news strategy because as showcased, seems to be limited only to weather and wonder if there was any plan to change from the Rocky cityscape backdrop when statewide?
