I don't know too much about how his drug use affected his appearance in this period, but seeing this video for the first time I feel like perhaps he's supposed to look "bad." When someone loves you enough to be your wife, they've got to love you even through your worst. That or it was a little bit of ironic humor. Either way, it makes me laugh a bit.(Or he really could be that run-down from drugs. I don't know)

It's basicaly similar to the 1973 Life On mars video. It even looks as though they used the same set,..that same luminous completely white backdrop.
