Democracy for the rich. After the Rodney King uprising in 1992 the city of Los Angeles donated 14 acres of desolate urban landscape to the people in the neighborhood. The people reclaimed the land and made 350 garden plots. This farm kept kids off the streets and off drugs. It feed the poor and gave the area a sense of community. Now the city has taken it back. They destroyed the crops, the infrastructure, and the lives of many people. They plan to build a warehouse in it's place.

That's disgusting. So sorry to hear it.

One could argue that you sound disrespectful. There's more ways than using "profanity" to come off disrespectful. It's your point of view, but you sound like you're generalizing. Like it's all just a state of mind. AS if people are only victims by choice and never victimized by others, even if the law is on the side of one party it doesn't always mean it's morally right. Sure there are plenty of people that push it when it comes to the victim role but there's also them who actually are.

Although my point of view doesn't represent everyone in my community, it does reflect a large portion of us that aren't as pessimistic as these people. Most of us do the best we can with what we have and don't need someone disrespectful like yourself to defend us from the "higher ups."

Please don't call me an asshole. I'm a person from the same impoverished community than those you seem to be defending. Try reading all three of my postings (down to up) on the South Central Farmers and really think about the questions I raised. I raised them because the facts would make everyone think differently. I lived through this. I grew vegetables with my grandfather.

you one of those people who believe bad things only happen to lazy people? Plenty of people work hard all their lives and have nothing to show for it. plenty of higher ups like to keep it that way cause they profit from it. You're coming off like a total snob asshole. but whatever

Teach them that with enough diligence and hard work you can prosper and don't become a victim and fill yourself with excuses.

My grandfather had a piece of land their until a year before they shut it down. He was bullied, charged money, and then kicked out of this farm. I raise the questions. Who controlled it? Who decided who stayed? Who controlled this money? Who owns this land? We don't live in a time of squatters. Just because you can show dramatic images of poor people doesn't mean you can take land that isn't yours. Teach your children to go to school and to do something with their lives.

Who is this lady? I have been living in this neighborhood my whole life. I only live blocks away and I could tell you this movement was all publicity. She says, "children are scared of the police." Why don't you teach your children to be civilized and understand the concept of private property?
