I have to agree with GoNavy and the majority ... Expert village has very poor lessons for all things. Prove me wrong, find one actually helpful.

There are teachers who teach over the internet using skype, I think, and you could contact one of them and get lessons with them from your computer. You'd just need a webcam first, though.

Ok, heres the thing. I live in colombia, no bagpipe instructors here. Bought a Mcallum practice chanter, got my first lesson book with instructional cd. NO GOOD! I need a freakin neurotic instructor that will yell at me when I do something wrong... LOL! No but really... I need a way to learn the right way, what should i do people?

Maybe you can show us? I know in my area we don't have instructors just down the road. simple-minded people like yourself cant do anything but flame people who are trying to help out others. If you don't like the video of swab the deck or something. Thanks expertvillage

I love how a "bagpipe instructor" like this guy shows the "right" way to play bagpipes by demonstrating some of the poorest finger posture I've ever seen as a bagpiper. Please stop "teaching" people on Youtube. For the sake of this instrument, let them find a qualified instructor with whom they can meet personally. Our ultimate goal is to produce quality music, you can't do that just by watching "instructional" videos such as this one.

It's almost impossible to self-learn, and even if you do, you won't be all that great. My advice is to get a live instructor; this instrument is one of the hardest out there.
