I think the future shouldn't just be made to be functional and efficient, but I just think it should be delibirately made to look cool... but I suppose we are doing that anyway, when you look around.

Malls are designed to be confusing on purpose so you spend more time walking by stores, increasing the chances overall that more people will buy on impulse..I enjoyed his comments about civilization.

Why would you build cities underwater when there is perfectly good land everywhere. Here's an idea. Things need to be efficient without being so uniform people get lost. Ever been in a mall that's too big? A 10 deck parking garage? A stadium or large concert venue? Some design does not scale as well as others. Why doesn't everyone always shop at the huge economy stores and often favor the local grocer/hardware store/etc? |
