U-Turn - Joe Sample

One of the many jazzmen who started out playing hard bop but went electric during the fusion era, Joe Sample was, in the late '50s, a founding member of the Jazz Crusaders along with trombonist Wayne Henderson, tenor saxman Wilton Felder, and drummer Stix Hooper. The Crusaders' debt to Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers wasn't hard to miss -- except that the L.A.-based unit had no trumpeter, and became known for its unique tenor/trombone front line.

I agree, when I first started tuning in to you tube just the end of last year, what a world opened up to me, first searching for Earth Wind and Fire, and others, then I looked for this song to no avail, but finally finding it, thanks Sylvette 323 for posting it. Take 6 singing this is what lead me to Joe Sample...what a FIND :)peace

Another child lover of jazz. I started loving jazz at about age 6. My parents always had it playing in the house and I've been hooked since the '70s. I LOVE this song, of course. I could listen to it over and over and over....

Me and this song have a history. This is the first jazz song that I fell in love with. My dad used to bump this tune in the car and be jammin' to it. I thought my dad was the coolest man on the planet and wanted to be just like him so I would be jammin' too. At that very moment I fell in love with jazz. I was 10 years old. I will always love this song and I live by the words of it. Powerful jam!!!
