if you had a larger magnet mounted on the table and the copper cylinders above it would it levitate the cylinders?

Maybe when I get back to the 'States. Here in Japan, if you are not around Tokyo it's real hard to get anything machined or find the proper materials, and what you can find is impeded by the language barrier when you need to ask specific questions. =-Dgreat vids though!

> copper tubes on a non-metallic extensionGreat idea! Or SS bearings, or bronze. But my goal is to create sci-fair projects or just to trigger curiosity, so if anyone wants to know what happens, THEY'LL have to build one. If I refuse to use up all the fun myself, lots of stuff remains which has never been done by anyone, ever. Go and be the first. (Well, I did do a brief crude expt with the whole device upside-down. Someone needs to do a better version.)

Curious... if you fixed the copper tubes on a non-metallic extension at either end and ran the bearings on that, you could potentially eliminate the magnetic field being 'sucked up' and achieve the balancing effect you talked about. The cylenders would have to be balanced, the only real effective way I can think of is demonstrated by the ceramic beads used to balance motorcycle tires from the inside... ohh brainstorm- having a had time finding words hehe.another awesome vid.

when I see this thing I can't help thinking of building a non friction barrel for weapons
