Great video. But, I don't think it's good to teach people to hit all the strings when you only need to hit five strings (like you did with D maj. 7). I think it encourages bad technique. Nice work, though!

there are several ways to make 1 chord.. for example you can play all the basic chords as bar chords waaay up the neck but get the same sound

Your not missing anything bro lol. It's just a different position.X79987 = EmX79787 = Em7022000 = Em02203X = Em7Note that the note that was changed in the first position (9 to 7th fret) is the same as adding the 3rd. They are both the 7th note in the E minor scale, that is why it makes it a 7th chord.To understand it a little more, play the 7th Fret on the 3rd string, and then the 3rd fret on the 2nd string. Same note isn't it? :) Hope you get it.
