All American owe a great deal of thanks to British. You gave up your empire to to save the world. Without Churchill, Roosevelt would never have violated the Federal Laws to help the British. The world today would not be the same if Hitler had won. Funny thing though, the British considered Americans unable to lead an Army into battle and win. Without a doubt, we Americans had and still do have some of the best field commanders ever to see war.

Oh, and to the Americans out there that love to claim we saved the British, well, that may be somewhat true. However, had we sat back and waited for Hitler to defeat them and the rest of Europe, we'd not have stood any better chance on our own; so it was just as much to our own benefit to help the European coutries out when we did, while they were still there to help us as well, as it was beneficial to them. We should all be happy Hitler spread himself too thin, or we'd ALL be speaking German.

I see no point in the British and us Americans arguing with each other any more, since we are about as close of allies as either country is going to get. The British are on a very short list of countries that I do like, along with the Canadians, Australians and Israelis...so don't burn bridges with the folks that are on that short list of countries that we can actually can count on to support us.

Good Lord, folks, can't we all just stand together in saying the French suck, and have always sucked. Yes they aided us during the Revolution, and yes we needed that help, primarily in formal military training and for naval support; but lets also not forget that the reason behind the French aiding us was revenge against their long time British rivals.
