I'd say part of that is how usually rock musicians are self trained.I believe Yngwie is mostly self-taught, if I remember right.

I think that those people who make fun of Yngwie have either never picked a guitar up in their lives or have some sad delusions regarding their playing abilities. He makes it look easy, that's why it is so ridiculous to watch; it's almost funny how difficult his music is versus how easy he makes it look. Technical skill of this order is the norm among classically trained musicians but practically unheard of in rock music.
