That's something I've never understood when I read about the anti-war movement in the seventies—why all the anti-troop sentiment? By contrast, as a guy who currently attends a fair amount of anti-war meetings, marches, and the like, I can honestly say I've never heard anything remotely untoward said about military personnel. Instead, there is inevitably heartfelt expression of empathy, concern, and—to echo an overused term—support.
