i love accelerate, but around the sun had a few jammers on it that make it a worthy album to play around.

Reveal IS a materpiece and Around the Sun is hit and miss. Accelerate bottoms out after the first 3 songs, with the exception of Mr. Richards.

perfect way to sum it up on accelerate...although for me it's 'good' and 100% irrelevant (except for a few songs). "until the day is done", "horse to water" and "hollow man" are pertinent.

yeah, there was nothing wrong with Up at all.Just Reveal, and Around the Sun were duds, but we have the fans to thank for Accelerate, which is great but 100% irrelevant

I hope, with accelerate (a very retread kind of album) that r.e.m. hasn't decided that pleasing their stubborn narrow fans is more important than the wonderful forward progress that produced great albums like Up and songs like this. Brilliant. Their later stuff is misunderstood and underrated.

The lyrics really are amazing... He "ate the lotus" and now he looks like he is having a psychedelic experience as he talks about having his sins washed away by rain that makes him happy. I especially like the line "...that monkey died for my grin, bring my happy back again, let it rain..."
