Or better yet, the last kid could represent someone who is hesitant to leave his childhood behind him, but realizes there are even greater things ahead of him? Or shit, maybe the flying represents opportunity and how you shouldn't be hesitant to chase it. Or it could be about how a group of friends face adolescence and adulthood together. Strength in numbers?

I think the last child does make it. The others chose to dive into the air and I think the child came out of him when he finally realized he could fly off so chose to cannonball into the air.
