my grandmother would sing this song to me at night before she passed away dec. 21st 2007. and when i was with my ex she would tell me all aobut this song over and over agian and she was right i miss her so much and this song means so much to me

This song reminds me of my best friend who is currently in another state after leaving home w/her so called boyfriend. The only difference is she's 30 not 17 & she's got a 10yr old son that her parent's are raising cuz she's gone. She left w/o a word & barely calls to let them know she's okay. Her boyfriend also has a record & spent 8 years in jail for robbery. This song makes me think of her when I hear it.

Don Henley is kind of spooky in this video.Mathew McConaughey plays the 'walkaway Joe' in the video, wow, that was his hollywood debut. Things sure have changed since then.

The voice of an angel, the looks of a godess - Garth you are one lucky guy!!Regardless of your musical tastes, this rates as one of the best songs ever. The harmonies between trish & Don cannot be faulted. For me, it's up there with Springsteen's "The River", and that is high praise indeed.
