Well I've seen Dickey before and when I saw him the first third of the show was great, but by the time he got to one way out it was just sad, he was screwing around so much and was completely plastered.You are right though man, when Duane was still livin and him and Dickey were goin together, that was the best.

I gotta agree with Belmont on this. From all the first-hand evidence I've read, Greg was full of sh*t on the drinking excuse for kicking Dickey out, what a f*cking hypocrite. But its really sad that the line-up with Warren and Dickey didn't last...none of them sound as good on their own IMO...but gov't mule was great when Allen was still alive...Dickey and Duane made the Allmans great...wanna hear a great band keepin things alive? Go hear Clutch, or the Meat Puppets.

both of yall are getting to sound ridiculous. both dickey and gregg wrote some of the best songs. gregg got hepatitas but duane was so against shooting up it wasnt funny. duane would geton greggs case alot, which kept gregg straight, without duane there gregg got into some trouble but dickey and gregg were both vital roles in the abb, no more than the other

I love Dickey's playing, grew up listening to those records...so I'm not taking sides, but if you watch the Allman Bros DVD "Live At The Beacon", Gregg & Butch state that Dickey was replaced because he became "a bully" in the band, drank too much, & wasn't into rehearsing seriously with the band. Now this is one side of the story, I haven't heard Dickey's version.

First of all, I am not your "buddy". I don't even like you or anyone else who lies about my friends. You sound like Greg. When Dickey called him after the famous fax firing, Greg said to Dickey, "listen to the fxxxxxg tapes". If Dickey screwed up live shows as you, Greg & Poe Boy say, why not post those fxxxxxg tapes so we can all hear Dickey screw up? Until then, stop hating Dickey, don't be such an ass and just listen to the music. Speaking of asses, you and Poe Boy can both kiss mine.

its actually not BS buddy, u can read all bout it on randy poe´s book, dickey kept sreweing up live shows, so they kicked him out. and cut the hatin with greg y´all, that happened ages ago, i bet he feels like shit about the whole thing, dont be such an ass adn just listen to the music

actually Dickey is a WAY better songwriter. Perfect example, "back where it all begins", great album...but the songs that greg wrote pretty much suck, while dickey's are great.And the greg allman band?....watered down crap
