Thank you for trying to clarify, but I beg to differ. Listen closely and you'll hear me say SEMICOLON with the "i" rhyming with the "y" in MY. (2:33)This pronunciation is acceptable in standard American English. Reputable dictionaries such as Merriam-Webster confirm this.

JenniferESL also pronounces 'semicolon' incorrectly.one should say /semI or semEE-/ but not /semAYcolon/! duh...

One thing to foreigners, we don't really pronounce the G like that, as in sinGER and sinGING - No offense to the poster but it sounds sloppy and obnoxious.
