I know dutchie is Jamaican slang for cooking pan. The song was originally titled "Pass The Kouchie". Kouchie is Jamaican slang for pot. But in America now, people sometimes use a brand of cigars known as Dutch to smoke pot blunts. They take the tobacco out, put pot in it, and smoke it. I bet you Americans got it from the song, misinterpreting the meaning of "dutchie". Funny though.

Because not only was a British group, where I'm sure the radio would not play a song with drug slang, but this was a group marketed to be the next Jackson 5, to children.

Funny thing about this song is even with all the changes, it could still be referenced to pot. "Dutchie" is now a common slang for Dutch cigars where marijuana is often rolled into and the changing of "how does it feel when you got no food" from "no herb" is self-explanatory. |
