you know this is a great song, and Judy had a wonderful voice. It's a shame to know even at my age (28) that she threw it away with drugs and whatever else she did. She was a great actress

In the 1964 Carl Foreman film The Victors, this song is used ironically. Eddie Slovack was the only US soldier executed after a court marshaled, for desertion I believe. It depicts Eddie being led to a post, crying, sobbing, to be shot. Quite moving.In the mid 1970's a Nip was found on an island in the Pacific, still fighting. Pat McCormack said they also found a Yank still fighting. His first action when home? Look up his old pal Eddie Slovack.Pretty gruesome, eh?
