This song has alot of meaning, it's kind of making people realise what bullying and being ignored by people you love can do.But yet people still do it...it's sad.Thank you Eddie for getting the issue across, you are a legend.

tgcubsfan is right. About 15 years ago there was a kid that was always bullied, beat up, picked on in school & ignored by his parents. To show them all a lesson, he got up in the middle of class, walked to the front & shot himself in the head in front of everyone. "Jeremy spoke in class today" refers to him finally speaking in class by performing that action in response to his treatment. "Try to erase this from the blackboard." refers to the psychological damage to the other students.

i read that eddie and jeff wrote it about this kid from texas that shot himself in front of his class room. "... means you kill yourself and you make a big old sacrifice and try to get your revenge. That all you're gonna end up with is a paragraph in a newspaper...it does nothing, nothing changes. The world goes on and you're gone. The best revenge is to live on and prove yourself. Be stronger than those people. And then you can come back." quote eddie. Its a freaky video whatever the message is

In my view what peal jam was trying to do with this song was to point out the flaws in the school system and the consecuense bulling kids that may seam to be weak and defenceless my have when this kids are being harased in school and neglected at home, the end result is an out cast who thinks the only way out is (in his mind) martyrdom. thought this song came years earlier is very reminiscent of columbine's tragedy. this song is very realistic and had a very visionary view for it's times.

The best lyric is "he hit me with a surprise left / my jaw left hurt and dropped right open / just like the day, like the day I heard."

Troubled kid. A really good song to memoriolize him. One kid used to write letters to him in detention and his would sy "Later Days" He didn't think he was serious though.
