this is the CREEPIEST, WEIRDEST video on YouTube. how can you bear to watch it?? i was hoping to get a good, smart and sensitive approach to karen carpenter's difficult life, and all i got was an odd montage that looks like it was put together by her stalker, a serial killer without a budget to spend on human actors. NOT GOOD.

I had no clue what I was about to watch. I saw the Karen Carpenter Story years ago, starring Cynthia Gibb as Karen, which is what I thought this was a clip of. I find this video EXTREMELY creepy and disturbing. I find no brillance out of it; I think whoever created it has a warped, demented mind!

Playing with Barbie dolls is a big part of the way that many young girls learn about femininity -- how women are supposed to look, dress, and behave. I think that the filmmaker's idea was to connect the lessons that girls absorb from Barbie dolls to Karen Carpenter's eating disorder. She died of heart failure after suffering from anorexia nervosa for years. She was not yet 33 years old. |
