matter is energy. e=mc^2 or energy = matter X the square of the speed of light. That means energy is stuff going really, really, really fast.

What would make the strings vibrate. The basic constituits of matter would amost certainly be roughly partical-like in nature.

This is rubbish vibration is particles moving but this is normally at an atomic level, how can somthing sub-atomic(qaurks) vibrate......maybe i didnt listen well enough but i think this a Sparta
