Another thing is, KRS or Rakim, could go to an underground hip hop event, and be welcomed to perform on stage, and chill with the culture. Just like in 2002, Freestyle session 7, Rakim was there at a bboy event performing on stage.Now get someone like Kanye to come to one of those events, everyone would be like, "....what is he doing here."

freestyle, but he's not at the same level of battle mc that KRS and Rakim are. Kanye can put together good songs, but just give KRS and Rakim a mic and do something spontaneously, they can't be touched.So no doubt, Kanye is good, and not just anyone can be on a track with legends, so good for him, but still, those guys are at legendary status and are real underground mc's at the same time.
