Just a train wreck in '70 and by the Summer of '72 he was face down near dead. Don't ever record in Miami if you have drug urge. They did.

Great post! Nice surprise in the second half, too, with Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash w/Clapton. I'd never seen this before, though remember Johnny's TV show.

Eric had already started on heroin when he was with The Dominos, during the "Layla" sessions. In his autobiography he stated, "By this time we were doing quite a lot of different stuff: smack and coke as well as all kinds of mad stuff like PCP." During the "All Things Must Pass" sessions for George Harrison, he also stated, "A lot of drugs were also around, and I think this was when heroin began to come into my life." So maybe he wasn't a full blown junkie yet, but he also wasn't heroin free.
