Silverlight is kind of a cool name, so I wanted to find out what it was. It turns out it is pretty Microsoft's version of Flash. This is part of their diabolical plan to bait people into buying streaming movies that are locked down with DRM stuff. I'm not a Linux user, but I do feel bad for the Linux platform sort of being pushed around by this.

Silverlight is Microsofts latest attempt to completely bypass the W3C and also prevent Linux users from equal access to web content. Because of this, Silverlight will never be a decent web technology - ever. The internet means information on any machine, any os, any time.

Hm, serious question: Is there any alternative to Silverlight available at the present time?
