Look, see, there's basically two things that really got this phenomenon known as Rap started.Gil Scott Heron-- and The Last Poets.After that (and probably before that...)it was a different little bit of the world.Dig the Poets, if you haven't heard them before.

Gil Scott-Heron is one of the most influential artists out here. I wish that he would bless us with more of his wonderful words and music. I discovered him in 1980 when I was 14, and was struck by his raw, unashamed truth. I have most of his albums in my collection too. |
