Wintley Phipps is obviously full of revisionist, bigoted nonsense. He probably needs to believe that Amazing Grace was composed by Africans in order to allow himself to perform it. He probably won't perform anything he believes was written exclusively by whites, because of his bigotry. If a white man were making such public commentary, about white keys and notes, and trying to give whites credit for the accomplishments of blacks, he'd be charged with committing a hate crime.

Wintley Phipps is pretty good at making an ASS of himself. The melody, known as "Amazing Grace" was being played on bagpipes (which have scale limitations) in Scotland, before a single African had set foot off of that continent. So let him spread his 'manure' all about, it won't change the facts. All one has to do is listen to it, and then listen to all the other Negro Spirituals to hear the marked difference in complexity!
