Orlando, FloridaOne of the most tragic videos I have. This is a Cessna 172 carrying an instructor and his students. After total engine failur, the instructor decides to land on a golf course. He overshoots the approach, catches some power lines, and impacts a pole. The instructor dies immediately; the student recovers completely.

your statement about general aviation safety is 'nowhere near as right'! You quote john king, but he still remains an instructor and not an engineer. The laws of physics and the statistics of a system failure, are not different for general aviation than for commercial. I understand the point you want to make, but you must not forget that aviation-safety is still largely implied by pilot-responsibility and not statistics

yeah, i would not be training if i didnt feel my school did not have a safe fleet of planes

Stop being idiotic!!! They are safe enough. Nobody would be flying them if they wern't safe. Cessna 172's are used for training pilots. So they are obviously safe.

yes you are right but the main point i am trying to put out is that general aviation aircraft are not as safe as commercial transport planes. JOhn king has discussed this in his article that they are risky forms of transport at a higher level than commercial planes. if john kings has said this then i'm i am going to go with him an his experience.

There is always a chance in anything, that however does not undermine safety. Going off your what if senario, aircraft engines are very reliable. If one should fail the aircraft is still safe and controllable. Yes you are correct that at some ALTITUDEs an engine faliure whould not always result in a succesful outcome. Then again that senario is in no way limited to general aviation aircraft, 172 included.

people mistake general aviation planes as being as safe as commercial airplanes. THey are nowhere near as safe and don't have the redundancies that commercial planes have. I have read the john king article.

HOw an i far from right. In a cessna 172 there is allways a chance the engine may quit at the attitude when you have no chance of recovering from it.

You sir are far from right!

the whorst thing in this video is the part of the car don´t stop to help the pilot

if you wanna fly the only way to go is with commercial transport planes. cessnas 172's are training aircraft. they are far from safe
