Sick humour has been around since time immemorial and racism is one of the few truly shocking taboos for Silverman's audience. I doubt very much that Silverman's a racist. She simply thrives on taboo, that's where the humour is for her and I think she's great at it. She's never claimed her jokes have a noble intent and why should they?

There's NO noble intent in her racist jokes, she just does them because it attracts attention to her. That's why she referred to chinese as 'chinks' on letterman so she'd get extensive media attention.
