I was there. I was trying to get a cup of coffee and all of a sudden I noticed a phalanx of police officers in full riot gear marching up the street. I followed them and stood on the corner and cried as the big trees came down. I have never seen anything so scary in my life. It was a scene of Us against Them. I guess I was The Enemy simply because I loved those trees that had been there longer than any of us. I have never recovered.

How quickly people forget the past. This was actually before I moved here, but it's still sad to see police overreaction like this. I mean, it's not like the protesters were doing anything to endanger others.

Well then he is definitely nothing like the Jim Torrey in this video.

My father is the nicest person I've ever met and I'm not saying that because he's my dad, I'm saying that because I honestly have never met someone as patient, kind and goodhearted.

I didn't know this kind of violence was possible in Eugene. For the city to not only cut down beautiful trees but to use unnecessary force to bring a nonviolent protest to an end. I am shocked to say the least.

I hope he's not an evil bastard like Mr. Fatass in the video.

We were completely non-violent and only there to stop the cutting long enough to address this issue at the city council meeting early the upcoming week. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Kiss my ass.

This is sad. A community that prides itself in higher education just can't seem to understand the simple concept of the democratic process. Majority rules... not minority rules. |
