The announcer is Willis Conover, who hosted a jazz program on "The Voice of America" for decades.

great to see my old employer Sal in his prime, there at the Newport Jazz Fest, with the great Sonny Stitt. I played drums w/ Sal from about 1986-89. -GregB

This tune is called alternatively Loose Walk or Blues Walk, depending on who takes credit for the composition. Clifford Brown?? Sonny Stitt?? They both laid claim.

Bayouhazard, you're so right. The film is awesome. First saw it in 1970, I know a bit late but it was made before I was born.

This is from Jazz on a Summer Afternoon which is totally worth seeing. YouTube doesn't begin to do justice to the colors in this film. It's beautiful film with some great great jazz footage.
