The person in the video is playing in the 'hard mode' which starts you up at the full groove gauge (that red bar below the chart) and kicks you out if the bar runs out. In that case if you manage to survive till the end of the song, the enemy will blow up no matter how much energy he has left.With a normal gauge, in which the player needs to fill the gauge to over 80% by the end of the song to pass, the enemy will blow if the gauge is over 80% (obviously) and fly away if under 80%.

It's not from any real game. The song is meant to be one of the 'boss stages' which have traditionally existed in almost every mix in the past.Agreed though, that the shmup motif and the energy bar ideas were pretty clever.

Im wondering what game other than Beatmania this is from I want to get the flying shooter if it is available... and as being a avid ddr player I would have to say that Beatmania is a lot more difficult. I own Beatmania 9th style for my ps2 and I have played it in the arcade. Its definitely extremely hard. I say I spend a lot more practice time with Beatmania than with DDR and I still suck at the game. XP
