I saw dave play for a benefit of Chet Baker's wife. I had no idea who he was and sadly almost no one came to the benefit. But when I heard the third set my mind blew. I kept telling him (somewhat drunk and 23) "you sound like coltrane... I heard coltrane)" He laughed and made sure I got a C.D. of the album they'd put out for Chet. I don't know what I'm saying, but it was nice to encounter genius as a virgin... he went right in my ears and I knew he was the real deal.

Another great video from JazzVideoGuy ;-)Check out Dave's wonderful trio CD titled "Monk's Mood" on Double-Time. Dave on tenor saxophone, Eddie Gomez on bass and Adam Nussbaum on drums. All Monk tunes, natch. A personal favorite of mine. Highly recommended!

A very strong voice in jazz, indeed. Just brilliant!

I'll admit, I had my doubts. But all your Sax Summit cds have really interested me in buying the album.

Dave is a great person. I play with Gunnar Mosblad who directs the David Leibman big band and have gotten to hang with Lieb some when he is here in Toledo - he is really loving and kind, as well as demanding and inspiring. Thanks for putting these together!
