if you have an old computer lying around, this may cost you nothing, i will show you step by step how to use a computer power supply to power your xbox 360 console, and do it all in (hopefully for you all) 30 minutes===IMPORTANT INFO U MAY WANT TO READ===i have discovered that the blue wire is not needed to start the xbox but you will still need to connect the green wire to the black one. i belive the blue wire is a grounding wire, so connecting it to the green and black wires will not do any harm, and is probably where it should be.if you get 4 flashing lights on the red ring, make sure your controller, and av cables are connected securly.if you get 3 flashing lights then you either have forgotten to connect a cable, you have connected wires incorrectly,or the most common solution would be that you dont have enough power.solutions:check all connections, make sure all yellow wires are linked together, all black wires are linked together, and that the red wires are also connected. also confirm that the green and black wire are connected.if wires were improperly connected, then simply connect the right wires to the right colors. if you are colorblind, you may need get assistance.if there is not enough wattage, up the wattage as high as possible. 250 watts minimum. 300 watts is ideal. anything above that is entirely up to you.--------------for a power supply without a power switch.as you may know if you have done this already, the power supply will remain on even after the xbox has been powered off. if the fan bothers you and you would like to shut it off, you can do so by disconnecting the black and green wires. this is recommended, especially if the wires on your power supply are thinner, because the wires get really really hot! i am currently coming up with a new method of connections that will prevent wires from getting hot.----- new discovery: overheating issues----i have recently discovered that the wires from the power supply that i used to connect to the xbox's power cord are thin, so they get extremely hot. this is not yet that big of a concern just yet because i played on it for a good 2 hours once and no melting or fusing occoured. i would reccomend though that you seal the bare metal off with a thicker tape to keep them from touching other wires, and to keep them from burning you or other objects. as of what happened in 2003 with the xbox power cord recalls, i do not want to cause any of that trouble, so i will be finding a way to get the heat to a safer level.

sounds like a cool project, although i dont understand the point in putting your xbox inside a PC case if the board is of a different form factor, but sounds like it looks nice

well the electric wiring in this home of mine has a power surge about once a week im surprised anything is still working but my cord could be fried
NTComputer86 (September 23, 2008 at 11:46 pm)
it couldve been ruined by a power surge or just simply burnt up on you. the cord should be fine, and if it is, you can cut it off and give this a try, if your cords fried u may just want to buy a whole new brick
redringofdeath3000 (September 23, 2008 at 8:39 pm)
here is my problem, my power brick doesn't even illuminate, i hope that the cord isn't fried
