Taste, taste, and more taste. That is what Django had (Grappelli, too) that most metal shredders are sorely lacking. Yngwie Malmsteem? Give me a break. He obviously has monster technique but seemingly has no clue about the music breathe and linking phrases together. Get all the JSP box sets of Django's music. They're definite desert island material.

a genius, and for the most part, an unsung bonafide guitar hero

kenan.., "for a..", c'mon, for any frikkin' one, and the violin is great too, Azonanum, because Grappelli was to Django like Jon Lord to Ritchie Blackmore. The two together always inspired each other. The chemistry thing. Sometime one was better, sometime the other, both great, often excellent even on their own or with others, but together always excellent.

Amazing really, I am a blues/rock lover, but I have always been interested in gypsy, and this is just great. I also love how people talk about how great the technique of modern players is compared to those of yesteryear, but this shows how great the technique of the old guys were as well, not to mention thier melody, which is sadly lacking in much of today's music.
