The different between a good guitarist and a totaly amazing guitarist is the vibrato! Some guitarist can play one note and get that note to sound more interresting then another guitarist.

One thing that can make the difference between a good guitarist and a great one is rhythm, which is also probably the most defining characteristic of music. Many guitarists don't have solid rhythm and lean on their bands to maintain the rhythm while they play notes independently of it. Stevie Ray Vaughan's playing had excellent, solid rhythmic qualities that helped to carry the music he played, and that's one of the things that made him so great.
