This song was written for Jackie De Shannon, no-one recorded it before her. She was the original and still the best.

She is pretty terrific.She also wrote 'Bette Davis Eyes' No.1 hit for Kim Carnes, as well as many others.A formidable lady!

Jackie is a gr8 songwriter and performer... gr8 version of this Sonny Bono tune...Jackie wrote 'Walk in the room'...never knew she sang 2 songs that The Searchers also covered, as well as writing one of them..very underrated performer.

The video is from a show called "Where the action is" that ran from 1965 to 1967. It aired in the afternoons. By '66 it was decidedly behind the times. Jackie DeShannon is lip-syncing, not live.
