I strongly disagree. 69 as a beginning? The peek of music was from 67 to 70, then there was still some good shit, but after 70 it slowly went down hill, then at around early/mid seventies got cheesy and awful.

It's really hard to talk seriously to a person who calls himself EdsPenis, however, I will try.Grand Funk Railroad was not a flash-in-the pan as you imply. That's why they became the first band to earn 10 consecutive platinum albums. The ticket sales record at Shea Stadium has stood for almost 38 years. This band owned the early seventies. People can be fooled for a short time with hype & advertising, but not for seven years. 1969-1976 was the pinicle for Rock music & GFRxR was KING!

Despite the ignominy of debating the merits of Grand Funk and their, um, legacy, market figures don't impress me. McDonald's sells more donkey burgers than anyone else -- that doesn't mean I'd put one near my face.Like I said, it was fun while it lasted ... nearly forty years ago. Check out Bill Hicks's take on marketing and advertising for an edifying look at popularity.That being said, this is a neat bit of nostalgia, best viewed alone. |
